HUDSON REC YOUTH BASKETBALL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR 2025-2026 SEASON

As we enter October, we know people will start to look for information regarding our upcoming youth basketball season. Details for Kindergarten - Grade 4, and Unified Basketball will be shared in the coming weeks. These programs will continue to be held in-town only and registration will be done through our web site. We would, however, like to share with you changes specific to our Grades 5-8 Basketball programs.

Starting with the 2025–2026 basketball season, teams in our Boys and Girls Grades 5–6 and Grades 7–8 divisions will participate in the Nashoba Youth Basketball League (NYBL).

The NYBL is a recreational league made up of nine member towns: Berlin, Bolton, Boylston, Clinton, Harvard, Hudson, Lancaster, Stow, and West Boylston.

This decision was made after careful consideration of several factors. By combining resources and participants across towns, we can now offer a more diverse and enriching playing experience. Collaborating with neighboring towns helps ensure more consistent team formation and reduces the likelihood of program cancellations due to low enrollment—particularly benefiting our Girls’ divisions. It also contributes to the long-term sustainability of the program.

Please note that participation in the league will involve some travel, as games may be held in any of the towns listed above. However, teams should not have to travel for more than 50% of their games (excluding playoffs).

  • Season Dates: Practices will begin the week of November 17th. Game will begin on December 6th. The season will conclude by February 14th.

  • Game Schedule: Regular season games will be played on Saturdays, at times consistent with previous years.

  • Playoffs: Will be held on weeknights during the week of February 9th.

The NYBL’s rules closely mirror those of our current Hudson Rec Youth Basketball league. While many towns require their travel players to also participate on their rec teams, the NYBL emphasizes and takes pride in its recreational style of play—perfectly aligning with Hudson Recreation’s philosophy.

📌 Registration Details (Grades 5-8)

Recreation Master Plan - Friday, February 21, 2020

Over the last several months, the Hudson Park Commission – Division of Recreation has been working with Weston & Sampson to develop a Recreation Master Plan. Below are links to additional information:

Pickleball Court at Riverside Park

Hudson Recreation has 6 Pickle Ball nets at the Riverside Tennis Courts to be used for public play (seasonally).  Use of the courts (both Tennis and Pickle Ball) is made available to individuals or organizations who reside in Hudson.  When not in use, pickle ball nets are to be placed off the courts along the inside of the fence, closest to the parking lot so that they are always accessible throughout the season.  The pickle ball courts can be used for open play with the exception of the days/times that the HHS Tennis Programs are utilizing the courts or when reserved for use by our local Pickleball group: Hudson, MA Pickleball.

Mission Statement

The Park Commission/Division of Recreation goal is to provide the residents of Hudson with a comprehensive leisure time program for those of all ages, while continually expanding and enhancing recreation facilities and opportunities keeping abreast of ever changing trends.  Also to preserve open space and the natural features of Hudson that defines its character, identity and link to the past.
