PARKS, PLAYGROUNDS AND BEACH RULES AND REGULATIONS

 

Rules and Regulations for the Use of Parks and/or Land Designated
as Recreation Areas owned by the Town of Hudson.

 

      ALL TOWN OF HUDSON PARKS ARE CLOSED TO PEDESTRIANS AND VEHICULAR
TRAFFIC AT 10:00 p.m. UNLESS OTHERWISE PREVIOUSLY STATED OR UNLESS A
SPECIAL PERMIT IS ISSUED.

 

a) In any park owned or operated by the Town of Hudson, no person shall cut, break, move, take or otherwise injure, destroy, or deface any trees, shrubs, plants, turf, rock, or any building, fence,  bridge sign, or other structure, nor foul any spring or stream, nor shall any person dump any earth,  rubbish, or other substance or material in or upon any park without written permission of the  Executive Assistant or his designee.

 

b) The consumption or possession of intoxicating beverages, or narcotics, or gambling of any kind is prohibited in any park

 

c) No person shall make or kindle any open fire except in fireplaces and grills provided for this purpose or in private portable grills approved as safe by the Executive Assistant or his designee. Grills provided for public use shall be on a first come, first serve basis.

 

d) No person shall, in any park, set a trap or snare, or shoot, injure, annoy, disturb, or poison any wild animal or bird, or injure or destroy any nest.

 

e) All persons are forbidden to use threatening, abusive, insulting or indecent language, or commit any obscene or indecent act or fight in any park.

 

f) No persons shall, without the written permission of the Executive Assistant or his designee, ride or drive any vehicle upon any park lands except upon the roads. No vehicle shall at any time travel on such roads at a speed in excess of 15 miles per hour unless otherwise posted. No one shall test or repair any vehicle in any park. Driving instruction is prohibited in any park. There shall be no parking at any time except in areas designated for such purposes. Go-carts, ATV's, minibikes, snowmobiles are prohibited.

 

g) No person shall, without written permission of the Executive Assistant or his designee, erect, paint, paste or otherwise affix or distribute any signs, advertisements, or circulars on park property. The sale of anything within any park is forbidden, except upon written permission of the Executive Assistant or his designee.

 

h) Horses, cattle, livestock and domestic animals of any kind are prohibited in any park, except a dog or cat on a leash is permitted.

 

i) Golf playing is prohibited in all parks except on facilities expressly designated for that purpose.

 

j) No person shall carry a knife upon their person having a blade three inches of longer in length, or discharge a BB gun, air rifle, pistol, firearm, bow and arrow, or any other type of lethal weapon in any park.

 

k) Swimming is prohibited in all parks except on facilities expressly designated for that purpose.

 

l) Permits for playing league or casual athletic games on park fields or courts may be secured on a  first come, first serve basis from the Executive Assistant or his designee. All permits that are granted must be produced upon demand, in order to avoid conflicts in the use of facilities.

 

m) There shall be no overnight camping allowed in any Town parks except in those areas specifically designated for camping and only by special permit from the Executive Assistant or his designee.

 

n) All of the aforementioned rules requiring written permission require that such permit must be carried and produced upon demand.

 

o) The Town of Hudson Police and the employees of the Town associated with Parks and Recreation are authorized to enforce these rules and regulations and to prosecute violators thereof.

 

p) Dog waste must be removed from all public property and disposed of in a sanitary manner, by owners. (Town of Hudson By Law-Article VI Section 7 (F), Dog Violations).

 
q) NO SMOKING on any municipally owned and/or municipally-maintained parks, trails, playgrounds and athletic fields (pursuant to M.G.L. Ch.270 s22(j) as well as no use of e-cigarettees). Violators are subject to $100.00 minimum.

r) No tents, moon bounces or any equipment/amenities needing ground stakes are allowed in parks, without expressed permission from Division of Recreation authorized staff.  Many parks have irrigation and drainage which could be damaged by driving stakes into the ground.

FINE FOR VIOLATION OF PARKS RULES AND REGULATIONS:

On August 5, 1980 the Hudson Park Commission unanimously voted to adopt Chapter 45, Section 24 of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts General Laws which states:  In the event of a violation of the Park Rules and Regulations a fine of up to $200.00 maximum may be imposed.
